Orchard Grove Primary School kicked off its first-ever walking bus on Tuesday 4th November – and it was anything but ordinary.

Complete with a boom box, wheelbarrow, dinosaur tail, and plenty of dancing shoes, the school’s inaugural walking bus brought a fun and energetic start to the day for pupils and families alike.

The initiative, which saw loads of families getting involved alongside dedicated staff members, is part of the school’s commitment to promoting strong whole school attendance whilst encouraging active, sustainable travel to school.

The walking bus provides a safe, supervised way for children to walk to school together, helping to reduce traffic congestion around the school gates whilst promoting physical activity and social interaction amongst pupils and families.

Following the success of the November trial, the school has announced plans to run the walking bus again later in the month – with a festive twist. Organisers have promised that the next walking bus will feature Christmas tunes to get everyone in the seasonal spirit.

The initiative demonstrates Orchard Grove Primary’s innovative approach to building community connections and promoting healthy, sustainable habits amongst its pupils and families.
