Construction is well underway on the new civic square at Orchard Grove, marking an exciting milestone in creating a vibrant community hub where residents and visitors can gather, relax and connect.
Located within the employment area at the top of the site, the civic square will serve as a focal point for the growing community. Its position, near the planned care home and future business premises, ensures it will become a dynamic space serving both residents and those working in the area.
Work has now commenced on the civic square along with a new path connection that will link directly down to the Park & Bus transport hub at the front of the development, creating a seamless network of connected public spaces. The team is targeting completion by the end of the year, with seasonal planting to follow in the spring to ensure the square’s natural elements are established at the right time.
The design includes thoughtfully planned features to enhance the visitor experience, including landscaped green space, tree-lined pathways, comfortable seating areas, and convenient cycle stands. An attractive carved entrance feature will at a real point of difference to the space.
While separate from the development’s future local centre – which will include shops and community facilities – the civic square represents one of several carefully planned community spaces throughout Orchard Grove. It complements other public areas, including the development’s parkland, each designed to serve different community needs and encourage social interaction.
Whether people want to take a lunch break from work, meet friends, or simply enjoy some quiet time outdoors, the civic square will provide a welcoming environment for everyone. This attention to detail reflects the development’s broader commitment to creating sustainable, well-integrated community spaces where community life can flourish.
