On Saturday 14 September, an event was held at Orchard Grove, which included a Dr Bike cycle repair pop-up.

Residents could learn more about the local travel plan from the local travel plan coordinator at Somerset Council, discuss their local travel and transport options and ask questions about the use of their Green Travel Voucher. On top of this, a bike shop was there to give their bike a free mini-service or just provide some TLC. The local Police were also present to tag bikes during the event.

The event was run and funded through Orchard Grove’s local travel plan and held by Somerset Council, as part of the local authority’s commitment to promoting healthy and sustainable travel options. The free event aimed to support greener and healthier ways of getting around, provide safe travel solutions, and encourage residents to enjoy the local environment.

A successful event, 33 bikes were fixed, which included repairing punctures, adjusting seat and handlebars, brakes, and adjusting kids’ bikes. The team discussed travel patterns and green travel vouchers. Local Councillors attended, as did local charity, On Your Bike. Avon and Somerset Police came along and tagged bikes for three hours.
