At Orchard Grove, we’re creating a unique garden community with two neighborhoods connected by abundant green spaces. The vision includes several distinctive parks ensuring residents are never far from nature, while encouraging sustainable travel throughout the area.
Manor Park is one of these key green spaces taking shape.
Where is Manor Park?
Manor Park is a linear strip of parkland that runs across part of the development on both sides of Egremont Road. You’ll find the western portion between Higher Comeytrowe Farm and Elstar Close, with the eastern section continuing on the other side of Egremont Road toward Comeytrowe Lane.
What’s happening now?
Work on Manor Park began in autumn 2024, focusing on both the hard landscaping (such as pathways) and soft landscaping (all the greenery and planting).
As of May 2025, seeding has been completed throughout the park. The landscaping team will pause to allow the newly planted areas to become properly established, with additional work resuming at the end of August.
What will Manor Park offer?
Manor Park follows a subsidiary of the Galmington Stream along a natural fold in the landscape toward Higher Comeytrowe Farm. This thoughtfully designed space will:
- Provide a valuable green connection for pedestrians and cyclists from Horts Bridge Park to the residential areas to the west
- Include woodland and scrub planting to enhance the existing mix of water, woodland and meadow environments
- Create a sequence of linked spaces that flow naturally from one to another, with distinctive features and landmarks to help with navigation
- Offer bridges or new crossing points to improve connectivity
- Feature several SuDS attenuation basins – a drainage system designed to temporarily store excess rainwater and stormwater, turning them into ponds and wetlands until the water disperses
- Serve as both a pleasant route and a place to relax and enjoy nature, for residents and visitors.
Part of a larger green vision
Designed as a garden community, 100 acres of open and accessible green space will be created at Orchard Grove, reflecting the surrounding picturesque Somerset countryside
Manor Park is just one of several planned areas of public open space, which also includes Highfield Park, Horts Bridge, Galmington Valley, and The Maze. Each area of parkland will have unique features that make them distinctive, ensuring diverse outdoor experiences throughout the community.
The development will also include play areas (the first, Pocket Park, is already open) sports pitches and allotments, all connected by a variety of green corridors and sustainable travel routes.
