October at Orchard Grove brings a fresh round of improvements across the development, as teams continue preparing the site for the autumn and winter months ahead.
The development remains clean and well presented, with clear signage throughout and the road network free from litter. Road sweeping and gully cleaning are in full swing this month, with good progress already made across much of the site – important groundwork to keep drainage flowing freely as autumn sets in. Residents may also start to notice grass filling out nicely in a number of areas, a welcome change after the long dry summer, with a few remaining patches set to be finished off over the coming weeks.
Behind the scenes, work continues to strengthen the site’s drainage network ahead of any wetter weather. Most areas are performing well, and teams are using October to carry out some routine maintenance – replacing weathered sandbags and reinforcing protective fencing around the ponds and basins – to keep everything working as it should.
Highfield Park continues to be a highlight this autumn. New picket fencing around the park’s tree is nearing completion, and once nearby boundary works wrap up, the last of the temporary fencing will come down – opening the park up further and giving it a smarter, more finished feel. The bees remain busy, and the picnic benches have proven a popular spot for residents to rest and take in the view. A little more landscaping is planned here before the end of the month.
Over in the employment land area, the site is being prepared for topsoiling and seeding in the coming weeks, while footpath works continue to progress, with surfacing to follow shortly after. Along the newer roads, utility connections – gas, electricity and fibre – are moving steadily forward, laying the groundwork for these areas to be finished off in the months ahead.
Finally, we’re pleased to share some really positive news on litter – levels have been noticeably down for two weeks running, and all bins across the site are well maintained with plenty of capacity. A big thank you to residents for continuing to use them – it’s a small thing that makes a big difference to how the development looks and feels for everyone.
