The first sales information centre and show homes have opened at Orchard Grove, so the public can now visit part of the site for the first time. The Taylor Wimpey sales office is open and appointments need to be booked in advance. Access is via the site entrance, where a traffic marshall is directing visitors.

Work continues on the new roundabout junction on the A38. Currently, westbound traffic is being diverted around one side of the new roundabout, while eastbound traffic continues as normal. Temporary traffic lights are in operation between the hours of 7pm and 7am.

Those neighbouring the site will likely be aware of the localised flooding earlier in the month due to unprecedented levels of rainfall. The site briefly experienced an excess of surface water and the team quickly resolved this, with barriers created to retain water within the fields and divert it safely to drain away. These solutions have been successful but the team will monitor the situation carefully.

Looking to the future, new attenuation basins are in the process of being built. These are part of the sustainable drainage planned for the new community. They are designed to naturally capture and control rainwater run-off, and will significantly improve drainage in this area.

Construction has not yet started on the new pumping station. However, those living locally may certainly see some activity taking place to inspect the area, ready it for construction, and erect hoardings around this part of the site.
