We are continuing to create the ‘spine road’ that will be the main arterial road that eventually runs from the top to the bottom of Orchard Grove, and the first section of tarmac will be laid this month. Another new road, looping around the first homes by Vistry is being built at the moment. These new roads are intentionally being created early in the project, to enable those working on site to move around, but also to ensure vital infrastructure is there as soon as the first residents arrive.

Given the milder and drier Spring weather, cut and fill earthworks are in full flow. This involves taking earth from one part of the site and filling another area, compacting it to alter the contour of the land, and create the right levels for construction. Work has started on the attenuation basins, which are sustainable forms of urban drainage, and these will soon be joined by new retaining walls.

This month the Vistry site team will arrive to begin work on 142 new Vistry Group and LiveWest homes. Taylor Wimpey is making good progress, with foundations being dug for its first homes. You can expect to see an increase in personnel and activity now, with the developer build teams, and Orchard Grove groundworks team all busy on site this month. In addition, there will be other essential services going in and ecological surveys will continue.

Soon work will start on a new A38 junction to create a new roundabout, connecting Orchard Grove to the local area, via the A38. A traffic management plan will be in action and more information on this will be communicated ahead of the work starting.
