Happy New Year and welcome to the first update about Orchard Grove of 2021. This promises to be a busy year ahead for the new community, with housebuilding soon to start and other exciting milestones planned.

The majority of work through January will be more of the same; preparing for construction and readying the site accordingly. If the drier weather continues, you can expect to see earthworks, with machinery removing and transporting soil. Where land is not in use, it will continue to be farmed by a local farmer.

Across the site, technical surveys by consultants or contractors will continue in areas where construction is pending. An excavator will continue to create bore holes at points across the site of equipment, from which you can see black casings and poles protruding from the ground, and these will be monitored for several months.

Later this month you may also see us prepare for work on the new junction and roundabout for the A38. This will require a traffic management programme to help control traffic in the area and allow construction to take place safely. When the plans are finalised for this, it will be fully communicated to those living and travelling through the area.

In accordance with Government guidelines on Covid-19, construction is continuing at Comeytrowe in a controlled and managed way, with safe operating procedures continually monitored. There are minimal personnel on site and all parties adhere to relevant guidance at all times.
