This month sees a lot more vital infrastructure work take place on site. This is the final stage of the pumping station construction, with work including infilling the pump chamber; installation of services, electronics and communication channels; and installation of rising main, to supply mains water. Following this, the pump station will then be commissioned. The last steps will be to complete the kerbs, slabs and drainage; erect fencing and finish the entrance; and then remove the temporary hoarding.

Elsewhere on site, the Galmington stream culvert work will continue, as will the ongoing creation of drainage basins and retaining walls, and earthworks across the site. The spine road leading from the top of the development down through Orchard Grove – the community’s new arterial road – has now reached as far as Comeytrowe Lane.

A big step forward for the development will see Orchard Grove being connected to the grid with the first substation going live. And finally, work is set to start very soon on the first public green space, ‘Pocket Park’. The new parkland will include a 400sqm play area, offering residents and local families an accessible, communal and safe space to relax, play and socialise.
